Patron women, especially in the Timurid era, have also played a significant role in the creation and development of ornaments and motifs related to feminine concepts. The current study attempts to represent and re-read the Iranian-Islamic architecture based on the visual components of gender focusing on the concept of femininity in architecture. For this purpose, we initially reviewed the concepts related to gender and then examined the indications related to gender and femininity in the case study. It should also be noted that in order to determine the gender identity of visual attributes, we were required to discuss the same idea in philosophy, evolutionary psychology, psychoanalysis as well as recent research on the gender of objects. The results indicated that visual manifestations associated with masculine concepts have reduced in favor of feminine ones in Goharshād Mosque of Mashhad. One of the main reasons could be the strong presence of women in politics and architecture whose leading figure was Goharshād Āghā. زنان، به گواهی تاریخ، هرگاه فرصت یافته‏اند شایستگی‏های خویش را در حوزه‏های فرهنگی، هنری و معماری به نمایش گذاشته‏اند. زنانِ بانی، به‏ویژه در دورة تیموری، در ایجاد و گسترش تزئینات و موتیف‏های مرتبط با مفاهیم زنانه نقش پررنگی داشته‏اند. هدف اصلی این پژوهش بازنمایی و خوانشی از معماری ایرانی‏ـ اسلامی براساس مؤلفه‏های بصری جنسیت و با محوریت زنانگی در معماری است. بنابراین، به منظور نزدیک‏شدن به اهداف پژوهش، ابتدا مرور مفاهیم مرتبط با موضوع جنسیت در روندِ تاریخی آن مورد نیاز بود که در ادامه سنجه‏های جنسیت و زنانگی در نمونه‏موردی انتخابی استخراج شده و مورد بررسی قرار گرفته ‏است. شایان ذکر‏ است که در راستای تعیین هویت جنسیتیِ شاخص‏های بصری، گریزی به حوزه‏های فلسفی، روان‏شناسی تکاملی، روان‏کاوی، مستندات و شواهد تاریخی و پژوهش‏های متأخرتر در مورد جنسیت اشیا و محصولات صورت گرفته است. یافته‏های پژوهش حاکی از آن است که در مسجد گوهرشاد از دلالت‏های بصریِ مرتبط با مفاهیم مردانه به نفع زنانگی کاسته شده است که یکی از دلایل مهم این موضوع می‏تواند حضور پررنگ زنان در عرصة سیاست و معماری باشد که سرآمد آن‏ها «گوهرشادآغا» بود. https://jwica.ut.ac.ir/article_76057_935b61a78b90b09fb8e08eacdd6a6c37.pdf
