Female characters in the plays of the 13th century and the beginning of the 14th AH, have different manifestations and are presented in a paradoxical way. The social and political changes in this period emphasize the discourse of improving the position of women and have fueled fear and anxiety about the presence of women equally. In this research, we focus on the roles of women in some of the plays of this era by critical discourse analysis. This plays have been described, interpreted and explained by the descriptive and analytical method suggested by Norman Fairclough. First of all, at the level of description, we have discussed the function of female characters in the plots of plays. At the level of interpretation, looking at the social events related to women in this period, the relationship between women's activism in the play and their level and role in the society is examined, and finally, in the third stage, the reason for the gap between the change of social paradigms and the role Women are explained in plays. By the analysis of the plays in the discourse context of the era, it was concluded that although in this era, the key role of women in the society and their promotion to the level of the speaking subject is always emphasized as one of the manifestations of progress, but still the dominance of the patriarchal discourse and The fear of killing women has so powerfully cast a shadow on the dramas of this hundred-year era that the role of women is either associated with concepts such as cunning, deception and conspiracy, or the female characters remain as objects of men's opinion games and seduction

The purpose of this study is to analyze the critical discourse of women's inferiority through the analysis of four films: Fire Bride, Lineless Paper, Father's House and Venus. The theoretical framework is Judge Moradi's theory of self-determination, which has been done by Fairclough's method of critical discourse analysis; Critical discourse analysis, by linking discourse structures and social contexts can help us to understand the existing issues. Among the dominant discourse systems, patriarchal discourse deconstructs relations between the genders from a position of power; the discourse of tradition and modernity causes subjects to redefine their identity. This method has three stages of description, interpretation and explanation; for this purpose, in the description stage, great attention is paid to the formal features of the context (analysis of dialogues and sequences).The interpretation, inter-discourse (discourse practice) is discussed in the second stage. Finally, the interaction of macro-social structures on the study is based on the theory of autonomy. The results showed the mechanism by which the transition between the two discourse spaces of tradition and modernity, the order of gender discourse and the power relations inherent in this hierarchy, has led to the inferiority of women and then their resistance to the superiority of men. Modern and traditional femininities not only contrast with each other, but on the other hand, the feminine signs are also represented in front of traditional and modern male subjects.

This article traces the way women are represented in three novels written by women during the Reform Government 1375-1384/1996-2005. The most important characteristic of these novels is the internal dialogue of the narrator. This phenomenon helps to penetrate the layers of the female mind and to reach the inner world of women. This is a new phenomenon in the Iranian novel and our aim is to know how it is represented. How far does the mind of the women in these novels correspond to the common paternalistic culture? These novels are analyzed from three different angles, description, explanation and interpretation. The results show that the main characters of the novels have two images of themselves. They begin by acting in accordance to traditional culture and everything appears natural to them but midway they encounter external contradictions and events which upset their lives. They face internal chaos and disturbances and begin to think about the world around them and manage to build a different life for themselves which is very different to the traditional world they lived in.

The distinguished gender language of the dominant gender discourse in the social atmosphere of Iran, as one of the most influential phenomenon determining the linguistic and non-linguistic actions of individuals, has been appeared in the popular magazines. It seems that the ruling ideology of the dominant gender discourse is to construct and use the self-made gender view that preserves its interests. This view deeply exerts its impact on the individuals’ social identity, therefore, we are going to analyze the dominance and the effects of this concept in the subjective subconscious and gender discourse of the Iranian society. The present study exploits the theoretical point of view of Michel Foucault and Norman Fairclough’s methodological approach to discursively analyze the stories published in Persian popular magazines during the year 1386. So, the findings of each text were analyzed with regard to the basic concepts of dominance, subversion and unconscious mind. The results indicate that individual attitudes, especially among women, are influenced by the unconsciousness affected by the dominant gender discourse demands. Therefore, they don’t act according to their demands and beliefs, but in consistence with the ruling gender discourse which uses them as a tool to reproduce the current situation.
