In order to understand the components of Iranian men's masculinity as a field of men's studies, it is possible to study oral culture and proverbs. Men's studies is one of the emerging fields of sociology and gender studies, which has taken an effective step in the direction of knowing more about men and investigating the behavior, expectations, attributions and inherent identity of men. Examining proverbs is important because it is a bridge between the researcher and popular culture to know as much as possible the opinions of the members of a society. This research was conducted in a qualitative way using the content analysis method. In this research, 803 proverbs with keywords man, husband, son-in-law, uncle, uncle, father and son were selected and analyzed. The analysis of the content of proverbs led to seventy-eight sub-components out of ten general components and was finally concluded with the centrality of the general component "Masculinity as a contradictory thing". The paradoxical issue of masculinity has characteristics; among which it can be pointed out that it starts from an unclear situation. The lack of clarity and ambiguity of masculinity means that it is not clear since when men have been characterized by these traits and has there ever been a time when men had different masculinity behavior from women? The second facet of masculinity as a contradictory thing is opposition and conflict with women. As a cultural product, the novel represents a society with various discourses. Each of these discourses, with their own configurations, are constantly trying to find their ideal to make their meanings hegemonic. The current research is an attempt to analyze the discourse semiotics of gender with an emphasis on the theory of "Laclau "and "Mouffe" in the two novels "This street has no speed bumps" and "Rahesh". Based on this, the main issue in the current research is how "gender" is represented in these novels.Also, how gender thoughts have been reflected through the author's mentality in writing the novel and what is the author's point of view towards them. In terms of methodology, the upcoming research is considered a descriptive and qualitative research, which data collection is done by library method. According to this method, the analysis of the novel includes three levels: textual analysis, intertextual analysis and contextual analysis. Textual analysis is dedicated to the semiotics of the novel's characters and finding the discourse order of the novel; In intertextual analysis, each novel is compared with novels of the same period, and in contextual analysis, the relationship of the novel with the larger social space is examined.Finally, the analysis of the propositions revealed that the main concern and theme of the novels; The obvious conflict between tradition and modernity lies in the social construction of gender, which is implicitly included in the inner layers of the text and lexical reflection, and the main characters and theme of the novels; The obvious conflict between tradition and modernity lies in the social construction of gender, which is implicitly included in the inner layers of the text and lexical reflection, and the main characters of the novels are in the conflict between the biological construction of gender and its social construction at all stages.

Masoud Kimiaei's cinema has been reread and interpreted many times due to its social and hero-raising approach. Male and female characters in alchemy films establish significant relationships with each other and with their living environment. In these works, the characterization of women is controversial in many ways. In fact, the female characters of Alchemy cinema, while they have a dramatic function, but it seems that their identity is defined next to the identity of the male heroes. In other words, in his works, the woman is in a secondary position and the man becomes a privileged character. The women in these films do not have an independent female character; And most of these women, depending on the man, assume single and identical roles such as ethereal lover, patient lover, honor, kind wife or mother, etc. and they have an objective appearance in all the works of this filmmaker. In the last few decades, gender studies have become one of the thought processes and the category of gender has been placed in the center of these studies in society, culture and art. The distinction between sex and gender is one of the most important topics in the social discourse of the 20th century. Gender is a structural and social phenomenon that is built in society over time. It seems that the alchemical approach towards women can be interpreted from the perspective of gender and of course gender reversal. Children's and teenager's magazines, among other mass media, have an impact on the process of socialization. Because these magazines can induce, change and modify values, behaviors, and gender role patterns among children in various ways such as by choosing specific topics and targeted illustrations. This article aims to compare the images of "Osama" magazine in Syria and" Roshd daneshamoz" magazine in Iran from the perspective of gender. The purpose of this article is to compare the representation of gender in the images of Osamah magazine in Syria and Roshd al-Mashoz magazine in Iran. The analysis of the samples was done using Kress and Van Leon's model in the reading of social semiotics, which examines the images on three levels of representational, interactive and combined meaning. The results of the analysis of these three meanings showed that the pictures of these two magazines try to present common gender stereotypes to children. The roles of "woman-mother", "woman-grandmother" and "daughter" are present as a central or secondary role in most of the images of both magazines, and in none of the images are women in important social roles such as medicine or technical, and the representation of such roles Completely forgotten. In examining the interactive meaning, it has been determined that most of the images are in the mode of presenting information and invite the viewers to their world. Far and medium views are mostly used in the representation of images. The combined meaning has caused a connection between the representational and interactive meaning, the use of the center-margin pattern, giving prominence to women and not using framing in most of the images of both magazines emphasize the role of women in them.

Gender stereotypes arising from the culture of patriarchal societies introduce common and limiting beliefs about how individuals act in the family and society and the classification of society into masculine and feminine. The present article tries to show how Al-Saman has been able to draw suffering by examining the short story of "Jannat al-Bajja" by Ghada Al-Saman based on the most important principles of cultural criticism in the field of gender and challenging the dominant patriarchal discourse using descriptive-analytical method. Women in the family as an obedient and passive identity in a people-oriented environment, show the transformation of these women and the recovery of their independent identity in an equal environment in the context of their story. The most important area criticized by Al-Saman is the popular culture of Arab societies, which has failed to adapt to the principles of the contemporary modernist movement. Explaining that Al-Saman also depicts the pathology of gender stereotypes in men and also shows the extent of cultural error about men as the upper class of patriarchal society. Criticism of gender inequalities, the harms of the patriarchal system, women's self-destruction in an unequal gender environment, the conflict between the principles of tradition and modernity, and the reduction of women to sexual identity are some of the most important issues that Al-Saman highlights in his stories.

A strong, healthy teacher-student connection helps to create an environment conducive to personal and academic progress. Stroke is the point at which a healthy relationship starts to deviate from an unhealthy one in terms of behavior and words. Generally, strokes have been given in a conventional and non-literary manner, but the literary form of strokes has been advocated as a way to open up an opportunity for the creative use of language, as well as the construction of a relationship between language, culture, and literature. The purpose of this quantitative research is to determine students' preferences for literary and non-literary strokes. Gender disparities in preference for literary and non-literary strokes are investigated to account for males' and females' preferences. Despite growing up in the same biological and cultural environment, they may have opposing viewpoints. The convenience sample technique was used to choose 411 students (133 men and 278 females) from a variety of majors and stages of study. The data was collected using a researcher-made questionnaire with literary and non-literary strokes. Results suggested that female students tended to choose non-literary strokes, while male students favored literary strokes. The reason for female students’ preference for non-literary strokes and male students’ preference for literary strokes may be attributed to their personality traits, communication styles and social status. Other contributing aspects include the lack of intimate relationships between teachers and students of the opposite gender as well as differences in literary and non-literary language features.

The presence of women in the architecture of the Pahlavi period is an important event that researchers did not pay much attention to, so women architects and their works remain unknown and it is necessary to develop this type of research. The purpose of this study is to determine which of the common architectures of their time, women architects whose works were published in the Journal of Art and Architecture, in designing their works? In this regard, the method of historical-interpretive and descriptive-analytical research, the method of collecting documentary and library information, the method of analyzing coded data have been used. Common Pahlavi architecture is an independent variable and women's architectural works are a dependent variable. The statistical population is the works of women architects in the Pahlavi era, some of whom, whose names and works were published in the Journal of Art and Architecture in 1976, constitute the sample population. The results show that women: Rosemary Griffone, Nectar Papazian, Franca Gregorio Hesamian, Giti Afrooz Kardan were followers of modern style and they often used concrete and glass, strip windows, simplicity and brutalism, free facades and plans as a way to modernize their works. And ladies: Nooshin Ehsan, Leila Farhad Motamed, Kayhandokht Radpour, Mina Samiei, Shahrzad Siraj, Franka Gregorio Hesamian followed the regional-modern Iranian style and solutions such as using a sloping roof, central courtyard, arch and porch, concept and architectural geometry They used Iranians to connect modern architecture with Iranians architecture. Ladies: Rose Marie Griffone and Nasrin Faqih were followers of the regionalist style and there are bricks in their work.

A Gender Analysis of Posters of fourth and fifth City Council Elections in Cities of Tehran, Shiraz and Ahvaz in Iran This paper is an interdisciplinary study based on a qualitative analysis of gendered aspects of eight election posters for the fourth and fifth City Council elections in Tehran, Shiraz, and Ahvaz. This paper examines how femininity and masculinity ideas, gender stereotypes, and gender roles are represented in male and female candidates' election posters. The candidates' posters are collected through selective sampling among available election posters on the Internet. By applying Berger's critical gendered analysis and theories of nonverbal communications, this paper looks at candidates' embodiment, physical appearance and gaze. More importantly, this theoretical aspect is combined with comments about the technical elements of posters such as lighting, Photoshop, and graphics and their effects in reproducing and recreating gendered stereotypes. This paper argues that while female candidates are represented as objects of the male gaze by emphasizing their physical beauty and embodiment, men's appearance and body language signify power, ability to change, decisiveness and problem-solving. Finally, this paper shows how, even in political posters, men and women are represented based on the binary understandings of active/male and passive/female sexualities. By looking at the gendered meanings behind the candidates' election posters, this paper discusses the significant role of media, photography, and representation in reproducing gender roles. Also, it emphasizes the use of photographs as a qualitative research method for understanding the gendered aspects of Iran's current socio-cultural context. .

Proverbs as one of the most important elements of oral literature can be a reflection of the beliefs and attitudes governing society. One of the important topics of social research is how women are represented in culture and oral literature. In this study, we try to get a relatively clear picture of the position of women in Gilan society by examining Gilaki proverbs. This study is a descriptive-analytical study by analyzing the content of four books: "Dictionary of Proverbs and Terms of Gil and Dilam", "JadkeftehGaban", "Proverbs and Terms of Gilaki" and the book "Gilaki Proverbs" which contains 4562 proverbs east, west and center of Gilan, 182 proverbs have been counted related to the subject of research. To analyze the data, thematic analysis method and proverbs with common and similar themes were used. The following five major categories of images of positive aspects of women, image of negative aspects of women, woman as inferior element, woman as superior element and woman as equal element. They were categorized and analyzed in relation to men. Findings show that the image of women in the culture of the people of Gilan is diverse and multifaceted and although in some of the proverbs women are represented as a weak and inferior element, but a significant part of the proverbs emphasize on the superior or equal role of women to men in society.

Women professional activity in Iran before the Qajar era was not traditional, but by the middle of the Qajar period women were given the opportunity to participate in society. Since the presence of women architects in contemporary Iranian architecture is often overlooked, the purpose of this study is to introduce women architects in Pahlavi era and to study their influence in architectural fields. The main purpose of this research is to evaluate the architectural areas performed by women architects during Pahlavi era and argue their influences in tyhis field. It is assumed that women's work in the professional field has had a greater impact. For this purpose, the paper has a qualitative methodology with historical-interpretive research method. Data have been collected from oral history, documentation and library, and interviews with architecture pioneers. Hence, the performance of women architects is independent variable and the amount of activity and their achievements in the field of architecture are dependent variable. The results indicate that while studying at university and working in the offices of architecture and construction development in the country, there is a reason that works of women architects in the professional fields can have more achievements than their works in academic areas; but they are still influential in the academic field.

What is important in cultural and media studies is the way of representing roles, petty groups, groups, relatives, gender, and so on. Nowadays, when the child's audience reaches the point, the importance of these teachings is doubled, as children watch their favorite genre of "animation" in-school curricula on roles, stereotypes and gender identity. The purpose of this article is to compare the animations of "life skills for children" and "children of Flowers Building" from the perspective of gender. The present paper focuses on the qualitative analysis and the cognitive approach based on John Fisk's array to examine and review the common gender stereotypes in the two sets. For this purpose, all parts of the two animations have been studied. The results of the research show that in both programs, women and men are represented in terms of the number of characters almost equally. In a series of life skills for men, men are often represented with superior and more relevant attributes such as the power of high-thinking and decision-making, knowledge and aptitude, high self-esteem, wide social communication, and cheerfulness. The women's representations are often blurred with traditional gender stereotypes such as groaning, rumors, intercourse, personal independence, abstention, lack of control over anger and aggression, crying during troubles, and disorientation. In contrast to animation, golfers have a more positive and egalitarian approach to gender. Men are depicted in this collection with characteristics such as family-friendliness, appreciation, the principles of rituals and sociality, and their esteem and support. In representing women, it represents such attributes as beauty and adornment, futurism, attention to detail, equipping with multiple skills, self-control and rationality, and motivation.

The purpose of this article is to study the representation of gender in the works of self-taught painters based on the social semiotic model of the image. Self-taught, non-trained artists, those lacked formal and academic education, began spontaneously to produce artistic works. Analysis of these works using the visual grammar of kress and Van Leeuwen in the reading of social semiotics helps to overcome the ambiguity of images as mere entertainment and to reveal the hidden ideology of the paintings. Hence, we selected 32 paintings by nine self-taught artists analyze the image of men and women representations in them. Research is descriptive-analytic and based on library and documentary studies. The results of the analysis indicate that the work of the self-taught painter of men and women reflects the gender division of social roles, with the difference that the female painter implicitly or publicly highlights herself as a nuclear element and introduces woman as the main actor. Therefore, the female painter is conscious of social gender bias trying to change it to their advantage. Women's painters with a realistic view of the works have an explicit look at the characteristics and realities of women and, on the other hand, have an equitable approach to the role of men and women, while the painter has a descriptive look and reproduces gender stereotypes.

Children are one of the most important media audiences. This present research has studied children’s television programs on Iran TV2 using Tuchman and Connell’s feminist theory and content analysis method. The purpose of this research is to study the representation of femininity and masculinity in the characters of the children's program. The main questions of this research are: “which kind of gender stereotypes is represented on children’s programs on IRIB TV2? Which kind of contents would be reproduced by these stereotypes?” For this purpose, 23 episodes of children’s programs on IRIB TV2 have been selected by random sampling. Research findings show that male and female characters are distributed unbalanced on children’s programs. So that, male display rate is 40.5% (272 codes) more than that of female characters. Hegemonic masculinity and emphasized femininity has been represented on male and female characters on these programs. Gender stereotypes are shown in the form of Binary oppositions such as male active/female passive, male intelligent/ female unintelligent. The symbolic annihilation of women is represented on these programs, so that women mostly are shown in ineffective roles. Therefore, the research finding show that television and specifically children’s programs persists the unequal representation of male and female characters.
