As a cultural product, the novel represents a society with various discourses. Each of these discourses, with their own configurations, are constantly trying to find their ideal to make their meanings hegemonic. The current research is an attempt to analyze the discourse semiotics of gender with an emphasis on the theory of "Laclau "and "Mouffe" in the two novels "This street has no speed bumps" and "Rahesh". Based on this, the main issue in the current research is how "gender" is represented in these novels. Also, how gender thoughts have been reflected through the author's mentality in writing the novel and what is the author's point of view towards them. In terms of methodology, the upcoming research is considered a descriptive and qualitative research, which data collection is done by library method. According to this method, the analysis of the novel includes three levels: textual analysis, intertextual analysis and contextual analysis. AbstractSocial media brings the benefit to people to make their voices heard, an opportunity which was not accessible in the past. In this article, we have shown that this opportunity has led to the emergence of feminine religion. Women used to be less able to talk about religion - in terms of preaching, advices, explanations and interpretations - but through these networks they have been able to produce extensive content about their religion and religious beliefs. The feminine religion is not always reflected in the same fashion, of course, but in a spectrum of beliefs among the women active in the social media. We can consider all the contents in this area in one picture and discuss the emergence of a new opportunity in Iranian society based on the commonalities between the contents. We have shown that the expression of women in religious life with the help of new media has put the traditional institution of religion in a new position. In addition to the challenges it has caused, unparalleled opportunities are also created for religion continuation. At the same time, feminine religious expressions have played a role in limiting the spread of anti-religious sentiments and have achieved many of the desired goals of religious intellectuals in practice. This study examines the feminine mediatized religion presented on Instagram analyzing the discourses in Iranian women's narratives of religion. For this purpose, five Instagram pages have been examined using the Fairclough discourse analysis method. The results indicate the existence of a feminine religious structure which is characterized by search for oneness, call to life, and production of new teachings in the field of religion.

This study was conducted to study the representation of the concept of "women against women" in cinematic works. Qualitative work in the field of cultural studies that seeks to explain and analyze a particular set of conflicting actions displayed among women in Iranian cinema under the concept of "benevolent xenophobia."Even if cinematic images are not devoid of bias, they can be a slice of social reality. For this purpose, four films from the total of films screened in the 90s have been studied on a case-by-case basis and analyzed by a combined method of discourse analysis and semiotics. The findings of this study show that in a historical and social context, Iranian cinema presents a picture of xenophobia among women, which marginalizes its repressive nature and emphasizes its benevolent intentions. For this reason, the characters in the films in this situation are mainly unaware of and tolerate the reproduction of discrimination against them by their homosexuals. This representation is generally considered to be everyday and natural and is depicted in the margins of the main theme of the film. the characters in the films in this situation are mainly unaware of and tolerate the reproduction of discrimination against their homosexuals.

The policy area of sexuality in Iran is affected by theoretical conflict between two major approaches. The present article seeks to present a discursive formulation of the theoretical conflicts between these two approaches in Iranian society. In this study, the method of Fariclough, Laclau and Mouffe is applied in a conjoined way. The results of the research indicated that the first approach, based on religious principles, follows the idea of sexual education with the focus on sexual ethics. Furthermore, it also includes various concepts, such as sexual identity, convenient and timely marriage, hijab and continence, etc, to construct the life sex of the Iranian society. Based on this approach, sexuality is studied in a network of biological and cultural components, in which sometimes confronting sexuality does not eliminate its ambiguity but instead enhances it. The second approach is inspired by the liberal literature of the international community, by emphasizing the importance of sex education with a core of knowledge and sexual awareness. Some constructed and predominated concepts in the second approach include various perceptions, such as homosexuality, casual homosexuality, and the recognition of sexual minorities, distinction between sex and gender, and the condemnation of child marriage. In confronting sexuality, disambiguation and explicitly are the most important strategies of the second discourse. The latest public debate on the two approaches was the 2030 United Nations Document.

One of the most challenging topics in representation studies is the representations made by women on the different aspects of their lives. Accordingly, this study has attempted to analyze the discourse of female identity in the works of female directors at the 35th Fajr Film Festival in 2017. The results of the analysis show that the central concepts in the four selected films generally refer to the representation of common feminine, traditional female and modern female characteristics. Traditional female characteristics include motherhood as the most important role, tendency for patriarchy, tolerance of difficult family circumstances, and adherence to the rules of emotional relationships, family orientation, and opposition to new phenomena. The features of modern women include selfishness, courage, belief to equal rights, disobedience to the spouse, displacement of traditional roles, and the lack of importance of housekeeping. Common feminine characteristics include emotional and sensuality, the importance of maternal role, family as the source of security, the need for emotional interactions in the family, maintaining the family with positive relationships, and sacrifice. Therefore, the three groups of characteristics displayed patterns of Iranian woman in cinema.

The domain of discourse analysis (DA) possesses a high capacity in analyzing the cultural and media issues and manifests itself when it wants to analyze the representation of a woman. It can analyze the beliefs, attitudes and gender values in the media culture. These beliefs and attitudes in representation of “a successful woman” depend on the traditional beliefs in one hand and cannot deny the social presence of woman as the outcome of the new beliefs. Representing these conflicts and finding solutions have been specifically emerged in the media productions, particularly the national media. The present essay is to deal with the dominant discourse in the “Capital 4” TV series which directly consider this topic. The results of the analysis show that although the series attempts to represent a positive approach in the social presence of women, the series showcases it only by accepting the patriarchal discourse and the traditional role of woman in a family as well as tolerating the pressure and more sacrifice of woman.

When faced with changes, communities always show resistance. Facing the modern world as a large change is not an exception. Some new traditions emerging from the modern world, regardless of the positive and negative valuations, due to not being aligned with traditional values are rejected by society and those who follow these new customs and traditions are judged. One of the ways to prevent changes in society is stigmatizing. Women who comprise half of the population when facing challenging situations far more sensitive than men, have special conditions. The current study examines how women are stigmatized when they follow modern values using Fairclough's critical discourse analysis method which has four layers. The results indicate that the three components including “modern woman’s deconstruction", "rejection of modern woman from tradition" and "labeling the modern woman by tradition" are three steps of labeling the modern woman in this movie. So, discursive strategy shows that the existence of modern features in a woman provides the conditions for the stigma.

The role of media in today´s world is undeniable and no border can be imagined for information transfer. Among these, one controversial issue in the media is gender and women. This study examines female subjects in discourse atmosphere of Iran´s cinema. It probes their situations and the way of confrontation with them regarding common discourses in two traditional and modernist structures in Iranian community. This study selects cinema and picturesque symbols to know the way of women´s confrontation with the world they live in, regarding their discourse between reality and cinema among movies influenced by the society as the cultural contexts that influence it simultaneously. Based on Laclau and Mouffe (1985)´s ideas about society, policy, subjectivity, and power, this study analyzes typology of three movies including Leila (1996), Two Women (1998), Separation of Nader from Simin (2010). This analysis showed that women´s relations in the context of social hierarchy and common discourses in the society and family atmosphere is heterogeneous and disparate. However, a definite direction can´t be identified for the way of women ´s reactions in the social contexts. This can be attributed to the suspension of the relationships in transitioning society of Iran.
