This article explores the Anima archetype in the short story Sutra. Archetypes are living energies in the psyche of every human being. The Anima archetype introduced by Carl Gustav Jung to define the feminine side of the male psyche is a main archetype in men. One of the most important manifestations of the individual and collective unconscious and, accordingly, all kinds of archetypes, including Anima, is in dreams and in literature. The short story Sutra from "Whom shall I greet?" collection by Simin Daneshvar, which is about the life of Nakhoda Abdul, a captain of the southern waters of Iran, shows the presence of Anima and her huge impact on the main character of the story. Since the entire story of Sutra is set in dreamlike states and thus in the realms of the unconscious mind, an examination of its archetypes is valuable and helps readers to gain a deeper understanding. This research is carried out with descriptive and analytical method, with the aim of achieving a broader and richer understanding of the story using the Jungian psychology approach. Its findings indicate the importance of archetypal images, especially Anima, which appeared as a fairy in the unconscious of Nakhada, the main character of the story, as well as her key role in his transformation rebirth at the end of the story, so that without Anima's life-giving presence and without her help and her inspiring role, this could not be possible.
